Benson Pharmacy offers a private weight management programme led by our pharmacists, combining a proper clinical assessment with lifestyle support and, where it is suitable, prescription treatment. You get regular reviews, dose adjustments and someone to talk to throughout.
Who it is for
Adults aged 18 and over with a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes or prediabetes, sleep apnoea or heart disease. The pharmacist confirms eligibility at your first consultation, so if you are not sure whether you qualify, ask us before booking.
Treatment options
Where treatment is appropriate, we can supply weekly injections such as Mounjaro (tirzepatide) or Wegovy (semaglutide), or oral options where they are suitable. These work by reducing appetite and helping you feel full for longer. Doses start low and step up gradually over several months, with a review at each step. Treatment is always combined with advice on eating well and moving more, because that is what makes the results last.
What happens at your appointment
A private 30-minute consultation to talk about your goals, your health and what you have tried before. We measure your weight, height and blood pressure. The pharmacist explains the options and, if treatment is suitable, you can usually start the same day. We then see you every four weeks to check progress, manage any side effects and adjust your dose.
Good to know
- Nausea, constipation and tiredness are common when starting treatment or stepping up a dose, and usually settle within a few weeks
- You will need to come in regularly. Treatment is only supplied with ongoing monitoring
- These medicines are not suitable in pregnancy, when breastfeeding, or with certain conditions, which the pharmacist will check
- Ask us about the consultation fee and monthly medication prices, which depend on the treatment and dose
